In the new Webextensions API there is no method to intercept the close event. It is deemed to be a major security problem if you could. I would not call that a security problem but it could be a major annoyance if some addon captured the close and refused to close the application.
* Why can systray-x not handle a fully minimized start like FireTray?
There is no method to intercept the TB startup in Webextensions. So TB will startup first and show the UI. After that the addon is started and systray-x can minimize the TB windows by asking the window manager to minimize the window.
* Why does systray-x poll to check the mail?
As far as I know, I cannot install a listener using Webextensions to monitor new mail arriving. Hopefully TB developers will add this to the API sometime.
* Why does systray-x only display unread mail and not only new mail?
There is no filter setting in the Webextensions API to do that.
